Why the Seahorse?
When starting a new company, one of the most enjoyable and most difficult things to do is select a logo and identity. You want to portray the core mission of your company, be catchy, memorable, and pleasing to the eye.
Strong Defenses was founded to give our clients, especially women, the tools they need to lead an enjoyable life and yet be prepared to protect themselves and their families if the need arises.
So why the Seahorse?
The Greeks and Romans believed that the seahorse was an attribute of the sea god Poseidon/Neptune and was considered a symbol of strength and power.
The Ancient Europeans believed that the seahorse carried the souls of deceased sailors to the underworld and gave them safe passage and protection until they met their soul’s destination.
The seahorse has a bony exoskeleton which symbolizes protection.
The Chinese cultures and sailors have long viewed the seahorse as a good luck charm.
It wraps itself around the nearest object in order to anchor itself to turbulent waters, a lesson to be persistent in our goals but not be too inflexible or stubborn in our achieving them.
Its eyesight is incredibly sharp and each eye moves independently. This symbolizes perception and awareness of those around us and our situations.
And the fact that the males are the ones that carry the babies is just a bonus!
I hope you agree that the seahorse is the perfect symbol of our mission here at Strong Defenses… thanks for stopping by!
